Lady Jackets Pull Away From Jaguars
STARKVILLE – A 22-9 second quarter run by Starkville overcame a deficit en route to a 58-40 win over Madison Central in Region 2 action on Saturday at The Nest.
The Lady Jags held a 10-7 lead after the first eight minutes, but a spark off the bench from junior Yasmine Roberts ignited the Lady Jackets' offense. She finished with six points off the bench.
After the big second quarter, SHS took a 29-19 lead into halftime. The Lady Jackets extended their lead with 13 points in the third quarter and finished the contest with 16 in the final period.
SHS was paced by senior Jada Gay, who poured in a game-high 24 points. She added eight rebounds, collected five steals and credited with a pair of blocks and assists.
Junior Logan Warren added nine points, while senior Morgan Williams pitched in seven points.
The Lady Jackets return to The Nest on Tuesday for another region match up against Oxford. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. Tickets to the contest are available at Gofan.co and the game will be streamed on SHSJackets.com.
