Fast Start Lifts Lady Jackets Past Tupelo

TUPELO – Starkville started fast and never looked back in the rematch of the 2025 Class 7A state title game with Tupelo with a 66-31 win on Thursday at THS.

Last February, the Golden Wave edged the Lady Jackets, 62-57, at the Mississippi Coliseum.

Four Lady Jackets carded double digits in the scoring column, led by senior Jada Gay and junior Logan Warren as the combo netted 15 points each. Gay and Warren reached their point total by halftime.

Junior Zariah Brown finished with 13 points – all in the first 16 minutes of the contest. Junior Yasmine Roberts contributed off the bench with 10 points, including eight of those in the second half.

SHS will participate in the Booneville Classic at the beginning of Thanksgiving week. The Black and Gold will open the two-day event with Pontotoc on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Jackets will face Booneville on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
