Fast Start Leads Softball Past Kosciusko
KOSCIUSKO - The Starkville softball team got off to a fast start with five runs over the first two frames in a 6-3 win over Kosciusko on the road Monday.
The Lady Jackets scored three runs in the first inning and added a pair in the second time at the plate. The first inning was highlighted by a pair of run-scoring doubles as junior Sadie Foote had an RBI double, followed by a two-run double by senior Rose Dodds. Junior Kalyn Kent and sophomore Andley Pylate extended the lead in the second inning with RBI siongles.
Kent led the SHS offense with three hits in the contest, follwed by a multi-hit game from Foote and Dodds. Foote padded the SHS lead with a home run in the fourth inning.
Pylate was stellar in the circle once again with a complete game performance against the Whippets. She scattered six hits and collected four strikeouts in the win.
SHS will host Eupora on Tuesday night on the SHS Softball Field. First pitch for the junior varsity contest is set for 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
