Starkville Marches Past Lewisburg

STARKVILLE - Starkville began its playoff run with a quick work of Lewisburg in the opening round of the 2026 Class 7A state playoffs on Saturday at The Nest.

The Jackets started fast en route to a 64-20 win over LHS after a 16-2 opening eight minutes an and taking a 31-7 lead at halftime. SHS posted 25 points in the third quarter to cruise into the quarterfinals on Thursday at Mississippi Valley State.

The guard tandem of Terrell Warren, Jr. and Jaden Tate combined for 38 points on the night with each collecting 19 points. Warren and Tate tallied 17 made shots between the two seniors.

Senior Jerwan McCarter reached double digits in scoring with 10 points and added eight rebounds.

Starkville will face Tupelo for the thirds time this season on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on the <MVSU campus.
