Jackets Drop First Region Contest To MCHS
MADISON - Starkville dropped its first region game of the season with a 55-44 decision at Madison Central on Wednesday night.
The loss is the first by the Yellow Jackets to a team in the state of Mississippi. The other loss on the docket came against Houston (Tenn) on January 2 in Memphis.
A 19-point fourth quarter by the Jags extended a three-point, 36-33, MCHS lead after three quarters. The Jags led by one after the first eight minutes and took a five point edge into the halftime break.
Senior Terrell Warren, Jr. led SHS in scoring with a 10-point effort in the loss. Warren connected on four field goals, including the only two three pointers made by the Jackets. Senior Jaden Tate finished with nine points, while junior Ladanuel Jordan added eight points. Jordan pulled down 10 rebounds. Junior Jobe Hendrix led SHS in rebounding with 11 in the contest.
SHS's game at Oxford on Friday has been postponed by school officials due to the affects of the winter storm that swept through the northern part of the state. A make up date has noit been announced. The Jackets return to The Nest on Tuesday, Feb.3, hosting Murrah for Senior Night. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
