Strong Second Half Hands Jacket Region 2 Home Opener
STARKVILLE – Starkville put together a 40-point second half to record a 35-point, 78-43, win over Madison Central in the Region 2 home opener on Saturday at The Nest.
The Yellow Jackets (17-1) extended a 37-18 halftime lead in the third quarter and posted 26 points in the final eight minutes to move to 2-0 in Region 2 action.
After a tight first quarter and holding a seven-point edge, SHS opened the margin with a 20-point second quarter.
A trio of Jackets posted double figures in the scoring column, led by 18 points from junior Kobe Hendrix. He also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Terrell Warren, Jr. tallied 16 points.
Senior Jerwan McCarter turned in a double-double effort against the Jaguars. McCarter finished with 13 points and 10 assists.
The Jackets return to The Nest on Tuesday for another region match up against the Chargers of Oxford. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the contest are available a.t Gofan.co and the game will be streamed on SHSJackets.com.
