Baseball Tops West Point

WEST POINT - Starkville broke up a 4-all deadlock with five run.s over the nexct two frames to edge West Point, 9-7, on Saturday at WPHS.
The Green Wave erased a 4-0 deficit with a four-run fifth, but the Jackets posted a pair of runs in the sixth and three more insurance runs in the seventh. Freshman Zay Spencer drelivered a run scoring double, followed by an RBI single from sophomore Taj Prater. A pair of doubles by freshman Murphy Gordon and senior Bradley Cohen extended the SHS lead in the seventh.
Starkville collected 12 hits off Green Wave pitching with five Yellow Jackets having multiple hits. Senior Torian Knox, Cohen, senor Tyson Knox, Prater and Gordon all had multi hits in the contest. Gordon finished the day with a pair of RBI.
